As the ongoing global COVID19 pandemic continues
to wreak havoc upon the global travel and tourism industry, what
impact has it had on the luxury yacht sector, both sales and
charters, in Thailand?
That is just one of the questions that Steven
Howard of TravelNewsAsia.com asks Howard Prime, Country Manager –
Thailand, Simpson Marine.
This exclusive interview took place over Skype on
3 November, almost exactly one full year since Travel News Asia’s last
interview with Simpson Marine which took place at the Pattaya
Boat Show in 2019.
Howard tells us what impact COVID has had on the
business, whether yacht deliveries from Europe have been delayed,
what trends he is seeing with regards to sales and charters, and
whether yacht owners can get special visas to enter Thailand and
quarantine on their own boats.
We also discuss Simpson Marine’s plans to develop
a sailing school in Thailand, whether the increase in luxury
private boats on the Chaophraya River in Bangkok warrants a
marina, and whether the company has any plans to expand its
charter operations in the Kingdom.
Howard also tells us about Simpson Marine’s recent
exhibition at the Ocean Marina Yacht Club in Pattaya, whether
doing your own show is a trend we can expect to see more of and
where the company plans to exhibit at next. All that and much,
much more in the video and podcast below.

Interview with Howard Prime of Simpson Marine
My apologies that the audio and visual quality in this video interview
are not up to the same HD quality that they normally would be. This is the
eighth in a
series of video interviews conducted over the internet. Hopefully it won’t be too
long until we are once again conducting exclusive video interviews
in person, but for now we have to make do with what we have. Thank
