Longtime News-Herald writer Janet Podolak has been honored by the Society of American Travel Writers, Central States Chapter, with two awards from its recent competition among journalists for travel features published in 2019. The awards were made during a recent annual meeting of the organization, which took place on Zoom.
She took first place in Travel Series Appearing in a Newspaper Magazine or Travel Website for the three-part series that ran in the summer about her June 2019 visit to the Channel Islands between England and France in the English Channel.
The same series recently won Mark Twain photography honors in another contest hosted by the Midwest Travel Journalists Association.
